Created Issue: Dependency checker is not recognizing the windows azure sdk for .net Nov 2011 [12430]

When I am trying to install WATWP the dependency checker is unable to recognize although I install it many time. further more first I configured Visual studio 2010 ultimate with latest sdk of azure but for watwp I removed the old version and installed the recommended sdk using web installer 3 but dependency checker is not recognizing sdk. Please help it out I tried it many time.

When trying to run the sample I get the following errors. I noticed that most of the ACS related code samples don't run as described. There's always some debugging to do :-(

When starting the installer, I get the message "There was a problem updating dependency items from the Web Platform Installer products catalog. Some dependencies might not currently be available in the Web Platform Installer feed". Then, it fails to detect the programs that I've already installed, and clicking refresh gives me the error "There was a problem checking the system for installed items" and I cannot proceed with the installation.

the problem is related with the web platform installer: the depency checker works with platform installer version 3 not 4: uninstalling version 4 and installing version 3 the issue is resolved.

I have the same problem with the "Windows Azure Toolkit for Windows 8".

Are you running this in Windows 8 RELEASE PREVIEW? That appears to be the issue.

The dependency checker cannot get past this stage. Due to the requirement of passed variables in the setup scripts (presumably from the Dependency Checker) there is no simple way to bypass the dependency checker and invoke the scripts manually.

Running on Win8-RP, with Visual Studio 2012 RC and Visual Studio 2010 SP1 installed...applying the package and compiling results in a compile time error:

The non-generic type 'System.Net.Http.HttpResponseMessage' cannot be used with type arguments

The generic version of HttpResponseMessage has been removed. The fix for now is to rename:
public HttpResponseMessage<SasCloudBlobContainerListResponse> GetContainers()
and
public HttpResponseMessage<SasCloudBlobContainerListResponse> GetContainers(string prefix)
to
public HttpResponseMessage GetContainers()
and
public HttpResponseMessage GetContainers(string prefix)

and in the latter method, change the return value from:
return new HttpResponseMessage<SasCloudBlobContainerListResponse>(result, HttpStatusCode.OK);
to
return Request.CreateResponse(HttpStatusCode.OK, result);

Created Issue: Windows Phone Cloud Application template broken with 1.7 SDK [12254]

The template relies on the ASPProviders assembly, which is looking for an earlier version of the StorageClient assembly. When the Web Page is first displayed, you will see an error:
Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation. (<Path>\\WPCloudApp1\\WPCloudApp1\\WPCloudApp1.Web\\web.config line 55)

Digging in on this, the inner exception is:
Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.WindowsAzure.StorageClient, Version=1.1.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35' or one of its dependencies. The located assembly's manifest definition does not match the assembly reference. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80131040)

A quick fix is to provide a binding redirect to the newer version of Storage Client:

This appears to be an issue with a conflict between .NET 4.5 and .NET 4 0 and occurs on line 120 of StorageProxyHandler.cs - the claim is that the setter for MaxResponseContentBufferSize cannot be found. There is a chain related to this on Connect at https://connect.microsoft.com/VisualStudio/feedback/details/743315/system-missingmethodexception-when-using-httpclient-maxresponsecontentbuffersize#tabs

In my case, this is on a Win8CP machine with VS2010 and VS2011 both installed and the Azure 1.6 SDK

Created Issue: Setup crashs when proxy authentication is required [12020]

When executing "Setup.cmd" ou "Setup\Setup.exe" the application crash on initialization.
Debugging it with Visual Studio, the Exception was "Proxy Authentication Required".

Workaround:
Run Fiddler (the HTTP Debbuging Proxy)
; type Ctrl-R to open "CustomRules.js"
; in that file, find the function OnBeforeRequest
; add the following line inside it:
oSession.oFlags["x-AutoAuth"] = "domain\\user:password";
; If specifying a domain, be sure to use a double-backslash instead of a single backslash.

With the workaround, the WATWP installation works.

This is a easily fixable ugly bug.

1. create new solution from Windows phone cloud application
2. run the application for the first time, everything works fine
3. while the app is not runing, open the mdf file that is located in the solution web role under app_data/WPcloudapp.mdf through visual studio to show on the left pane - "server explorer"
4. all tables of the db are shown and eveything looks good
5. close the connection to the db by right click ---> close connection
6. run the application again
7. all hell breaks loose, i get the exception described in the link
8. closing visual studio, all the processes or restarting the computer does not help, need to create a new solution with a new name to start over.

this is really frustrating as the documentation for this toolkit is very scarce

"DefaultStorageConfigurationString" should be configurable.
It seems that the name is static set to "DataConnectionString".

Not using this key in my project, gave me a nasty exception while parsing the config file, with only the message "Object is null"

The "Apple Push Notification" page (Apple.cshtml) in the Web site that the sample creates has the label "Device Id" under the Notification section. This can be misleading to APNs/iOS newbies because this field is NOT for the unique ID of the phone/device. This text box is for the DEVICE TOKEN that the APNs assigns to the device+app combo when it registers with APN service. The label should probably say, "Device Token" instead of "Device Id". The help text under this label in the "span" element may want to include something like, "You can locate the DEVICE TOKEN that APNs assigns to your specific device+app combination inside of the Xcode Output window if you run the "WAToolkit" app code that MS provides on github (https://github.com/ microsoft-dpe/wa-toolkit-ios ) while your client phone/device is connected to your Mac."

I have downloaded Windows Azure Toolkit for Windows Phone v1.3.1.When I am installing this toolkit through Web Platform Installer 3.0 It is showing an error that Learning Content Installer has stopped working.

The issue I encountered was related to internet connectivity through a proxy which requires authentication.
The problem is that the setup tries to go out the internet to get a End User License Agreement document.
When it doesn't get the results from http://az30840.vo.msecnd.net/web-resources/eula.htm because of the proxy authentication error the setup crashes.

I found a hack / workaround is to host the eula.html document internally. This can be accomplished by creating a host entry for az30840.vo.msecnd.net which points to an internal web server and put the eula.htm document there. (Note: Make sure to precisely copy all of the legal verbiage exactly as it appears. ...this is extremely critical).

Note you may need to temporarily disable your internet proxy until you select "Agree" from the disclaimer. If you disable your internet proxy remember to re-enable so that you can download all of the pre-requisite goodness.

Hi, the dependancy checker does not accept the latest Silverlight for Windows Phone Toolkit (Sept 2011) instead you have to install the older (Feb 2011).

I accept that this may be intentional due to a reference to the older one, in which case could the reference be updated as well.
